The Cy-Fair Houston Chamber of Commerce is an organization that Cypress-Fairbanks ISD is proud to partner with. The Chamber’s active promotion of growth and economic development has helped build a prosperous community in which meaningful school-business relationships thrive. Through our membership in the Chamber, CFISD has the opportunity to network and promote the district with ease. The inherent trust shown to local public education by the Chamber has allowed us to develop new partnerships with businesses, industries and nonprofits for the benefit of more than 118,000 children district-wide.

In December of 2015, I began working with Divergys, which is an IT consulting company. In a city the size of Houston, you can imagine the number of IT companies throughout the area. The challenge in this industry, as with any industry, is being able to differentiate yourself from the competition. I knew I had to get in front of people to discuss my services and be able to illustrate how our processes were better than others. One day I ventured into the Cy-Fair Chamber, for no other reason than because it is where I live. I learned what the Chamber could offer a business like mine, and it seemed to make sense, so I joined a few days later. I wasn’t very active for the first couple of months, and it wasn’t until the Member Orientation that it all started to come together in my mind. The takeaway from the orientation was you get out of it what you put in it. If nothing else, just get involved. The more times people see your face and hear your story, the more they feel comfortable with you and your level of commitment. As I went to more events, the more relationships I built. As those relationships were forged, my business began to prosper. I’ve learned a big part of my lead generation is coming through referrals from other members of the Chamber.

Obviously, everyone joins a chamber of commerce because they are looking for an impact on their business and a return on investment. For me, that is only a part of what the Cy-Fair Chamber brings to the table. I have been able to give back to the community through a number of wonderful organizations that are associated with the Chamber. I have also built friendships that I would not have if not for the Chamber. I visited a number of other chambers of commerce, as well as different networking organizations around the greater Houston area, and I can say with 100% certainty joining the Cy-Fair Chamber was the best decision I have made for my business. Thank you to Leslie, Paula and the rest of the staff for the leadership you give every single day. Along with the leadership and support from all the committees within the Chamber, I can say this is the best chamber of commerce in the greater Houston area.
